Power of Culture to Create Better Future Essay
It is rightly emphasized that ââ¬Å"The future depends on what you do today. â⬠And whatever we do today represents our culture. Actually Culture is a word for peopleââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ëway of lifeââ¬â¢, meaning the way they do things. Different groups of people may have different cultures. Culture is seen in peopleââ¬â¢s writing, religion, music, clothes, cooking, and in what ever they do which makes their country different and unique from others. Culture simply means to control the over nature. It includes the outlook, attitude, values, goals and practices shared by society. As different people have different cultures, they have different ways of thinking about and understanding the world and their own lives. As for my country, I believe that my culture is a lot different from others. My culture says to meet everyone with a smile. My culture teaches me how to do good deeds. It teaches me to prevail brotherhood. How would a nation survive without brotherhood? Without peace? How would u want your future to be? Violent? No right? So thatââ¬â¢s how our culture helps to create a better future. We all would definitely want a peaceful future and if we follow our culture, we would definitely have it like we want. Our culture also includes the way we dress. Our dressing plays one of the most important parts in our culture. It shows our belonging to our country. As in my country women are supposed to cover themselves or they are said to be half responsible for violence. If we donââ¬â¢t follow this tradition then definitely our future canââ¬â¢t be good. If we follow these traditions now, our children who are the actual future will learn this and this would lead them towards betterment and as it is said, ââ¬Å"A person without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without rootsâ⬠Culture also means the integrated pattern of human knowledge and belief. And whatever people believe today comes from education. As Malcolm X said, ââ¬Å"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. â⬠Education is the main way for a better future. If we wonââ¬â¢t be educated now, what will happen in the future? My countryââ¬â¢s culture teaches me to get education, no matter how long you have to travel. And if we follow the culture today, we would get what we want in the future. Education is the key to success. It can help us in the development of our nation. People now days usually forbid women education but The founder of Pakistan, Quid-e- Azam M. A. Jinnah said, ââ¬Å"NO nation can achieve anything, until it is women who go side by side with men even to the battle field. â⬠Women and men are equal. This difference has been finished now days. There are working and successful women who influence our daughters to do something better for the future. That is the power of our culture. It influences the todayââ¬â¢s world which inspires the new generation. Education also enables us to create new technology which makes our lives easier. Today, the world is much more problem free than the olden times. The reason is because technology is invented. More technology may help our lives get easier and lead us towards a better future. Cultures influence our lives. They teach us the rules to live in a country. Our culture also says to follow rules. We follow rules and this can be counted as a step towards betterment. Not following rules may lead to accidents and accidents are the first step towards violence and terrorism. Following rules, whether in our country, home, school or anywhere, can be counted as a help towards a better future. In the end I would just like to say that now a dayââ¬â¢s people are forgetting about our culture. Following our culture might help us create a better future. Every little step counts. Now itââ¬â¢s up to us if we want to start the journey because as Bob Marley said ââ¬Å"Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny. ââ¬

Social Security and the Downfalls of Early Retirement Essay
Social Security and the Downfalls of Early Retirement - Essay Example As a means of providing a certain level of financial assistance to those who have entered the later years of their live, US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in one of his acts as commander-in-chief, enacted a social help doctrine that would be commonly known as Social Security. The importance of Social Security is not lost among people. The program in which benefactors are able to received a certain amount of financial help each month after a certain age which is supposed to be comparable to the amount of earnings that the person would have been into the system over the lifetime in which they were working. As many of the "baby boomer" generation begin their approach to retirement, there is a great concern amongst many people as to how the Social Security system will ultimately handle the influx of new retirees as they filter in. Some wish to retire early, while others are determined to maintain their status as working individuals to the median age of retirement, or the common age in which many people choose to not work anymore. As it stands, the current health of the Social Security system is at a point in which there is great concern when it comes to the amount of beneficiaries there will be in the near future. With such being the case, the level in which the system can support both current, as well as future retirees, is something that has many answers to it and great implications for the ultimate outcome. A question for a great many people is to whether or not they are able to retire early and as such draw upon their benefits. The following can become very true; Social Security for early retirement is a complicated issue. Since many countries cannot offer significant financial support for retirement, this indicates that a person should save money early to be prepared and become financially secured as he or she retires from work. Contrary to popular belief, the Social Security never intended to be thee only source of income for retired people. For this reason, weighing the pros and cons of social security for early retirement is important to understand your rights, benefits and limitations so you could invest in other pension plans to support your retirement. Over fifty years ago, life expectancy of a person who started earning income around 20 years old was at age 68. Today, the life expectancy of that same 20-year-old who started earning is at around age 78, which continues to rise. For this reason, the earlier you save money for retirement, the greater benefits you will receive once you retire. ("Understanding", p.1). To decide how best to go about retiring, whether it being to do so early or at the age in which is considered to be common, an important thing to keep in mind is to observe and consider whether or not the Social Security system would be solvent enough to provide enough benefits to help beneficiaries in their later years. Essentially, to retire early means a less amount of benefits that will be available at the end of the retiree's life, with those benefits having been used to care for the person when they sought to leave the work

Jean-Jacques Rousseau Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Jean-Jacques Rousseau - Essay Example Natural inequality involves differences between one man's strength or intelligence and that of another - it is a product of nature. Rousseau is not concerned with this type of inequality and wishes to investigate moral inequality. He argues this inequality is endemic to a civil society and relates and causes differences in power and wealth. This type of inequality is established by convention. Rousseau appears to take a cynical view of civil society, and refers to times before the current state of civil society, when man was closer to his natural state, as happier times for man. To Rousseau, civil society is a trick perpetrated by the powerful on the weak in order to maintain their power or wealth. But this is Rousseau's end product. He begins his discussion with an analysis of a natural man who has not yet acquired language or abstract thought. Rousseau's natural man possesses a few qualities that allow him to distinguish himself from the animals over a long period of time. Of extreme importance is man's ability to choose, what Rousseau refers to as the "free-agency" that differentiates him from other animals. Man's ability to refuse instinct pushes him along the path out of his natural state. In addition, Rousseau argues that "another principle which has escaped Hobbes" is man's compassion. This quality of man also motivates him to interact. And finally, man possesses the quality of "perfectibility" which allows him to improve his surroundings. Man's contact with other men leads him to develop "amour propre" which is in a sense a "moral me" that creates concern for how others perceive him. Amour proper has four consequences: (1) competition, (2) self-comparison with others, (3) hatred, and (4) urge for power. These all lead to Rousseau's cynical civil society. But amour proper already suggests a significant step out of th e state of nature (http://www.radicalacademy.com). Perhaps Rousseau's most important work is The Social Contract, which outlines the basis for a legitimate political order. Published in 1762 it became one of the most influential works of abstract political thought in the Western tradition. Building on his earlier work, such as the Discourse on Inequality, Rousseau claimed that the state of nature eventually degenerates into a brutish condition without law or morality, at which point the human race must adopt institutions of law or perish. In the degenerate phase of the state of nature, man is prone to be in frequent competition with his fellow men while at the same time becoming increasingly dependent on them. This double pressure threatens both his survival and his freedom. According to Rousseau, by joining together through the social contract and abandoning their claims of natural right, individuals can both preserve themselves and remain free. This is because submission to the authority of the general will of the people as a whole guarantees individuals against being subordinated to the wills of others and also ensures that they obey themselves because they are, collectively, the authors of the law. In the words of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the general will is different from the will of all; the general will considered the common interest, while the will of all considered the private interest, a sum of

The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro - Essay Example This remark brings with it, and an emotional appeal of sympathy from his listeners and they are made to see the sincerity of the utterances that will follow. Mr Douglas uses Toulmin as his method of argument. Great Britain is mentioned as the colonial powerà from whichà the United States liberated themselves. He frowns upon the mind-set of their colonisers towards their subjects and refers to those as the disastrous times. This he does by bringing to light how the British put restraints and limitations on them because they saw it fit to keep their liberties in check. Ità strips their colonisers of their credibility. He seeks pardon for any imperfections that may be detected in his speech and attributes them to his level of education and hastiness that may have been triggered by the magnitude of the occasion. It, therefore, brings about a logical appeal which he seconds with a follow up remark when he refers to the fourth of July as the birth date of the nation. It symbolises a new dawn with which the past injustices that were perpetrated by their colonial masters are gazed upon as a part of a history that has shaped the nation of

Critically evaluate the extent to which intangible resources can be Essay
Critically evaluate the extent to which intangible resources can be used to legitimise management authority in organisations - Essay Example Thus, they are the assets, which the company must recognize as its significant components, which are rather better determinants of the companyââ¬â¢s performance than the actual money it generates (Cameron, pp. 88-92, 2004). Most authors and intellectuals, today, focus on the need of knowledge workers in the modern industry to keep the ship sailing. They are of the opinion than in this uncertain world, where downsizing and losses in one company, may also affect the situation in another company, located way far from the host (TSG, p.1, 2009). On the other hand, increase in demand of a product or a service in one country, may also lead to increase in demand of the same product in some other culturally distinct country. Economic insecurity may often liquidate tangible resources with no prior notice and the global dilemma of interrelated companies, put greater expectations on the managers to control and organize the information from around the world on their fingertips. In these difficult times, human resource, as the intangible resource of the company, is the most effective tool to cope up with changing situations (Andriessen, p.1 2004). Todayââ¬â¢s era is information era and all the stake of the companies requires handling and managing information critically. This information may include knowledge about the product or service cost, employeesââ¬â¢ needs and concerns, competitors in the market, companyââ¬â¢s capital at hand etc. Managing company information carefully means that internal members of the organization take good care of the power entrusted upon them and channelized the information attained properly down the hierarchy. According to management research, much of the companyââ¬â¢s progress depends on the top managements efforts to align the companyââ¬â¢s resources. With regard to intangible resources, strategic competitiveness is much dependent on the way lower staff, age, workload, education standard, job performance, and empowerment
